‘Harbour’ Wellness & Recovery Centre
The Victoria Wellness and Recovery Centre (VWRC: better known as the Harbour) seeks to reduce barriers to recovery and improve the quality of life for people struggling with substance use challenges. By providing a fulsome continuum of services ranging from harm reduction to intensive case management, the VWRC seeks to reduce or eliminate barriers people experience in the pursuit of their individual life and recovery goals.
The VWRC sets the standard, offering consumption and harm reduction services on a level that is likely unparalleled around the world, extending into a continuum of voluntary services including low barrier access to counselling, treatment, and wrap-around case management services to older youth and adults who might otherwise slip through the cracks. These programs promote collaboration with community and healthcare partners to help community members improve their quality of life and independence.
At the VWRC SOLID partners in a multi-agency interdisciplinary team designed to match individuals to the right program at the right time. Services include:
- Counselling and psychotherapy
- Supervised consumption (inhalation, injection, intranasal, and oral)
- Access to harm reduction supplies and education
- Intensive case management
- Low barrier access to medication-assisted treatment options and primary care
