SOLID is governed by a seven-member board made up by a majority of people with lived and living experience of street life and the circumstances surrounding life on the street. Individuals are elected to these positions each year at our Annual General Meeting. Our current board members are:
- Julie Bell, Vice-Chair
- Rachel Philips, Member-at-Large
- Lacey Jones, Member-at-Large
- Joni Ramsay, Member-at-Large
- Nicole Luongo, Member-at-Large
- Howard Calpas, Member-at-Large
Board priorities
Indigenous Leadership and Programming: Our Executive Director, Board Chair and more than half our board members are indigenous, reflecting the high proportion of our membership who are indigenous and street-involved. A focus this year is to continue expanding our indigenous-led services to make sure our programs are accessible to indigenous peoples living on the street or in precarious housing in our region.
Governance Expertise: As we continue to grow as an agency, we are looking to add three ‘board advisor’ positions to provide expertise in particular fields. Our organization is navigating new directions in programs and services; therefore, our goal is to welcome individuals from legal, physician, nursing, and accounting professions. Please contact us at board@solidvictoria.org if you are interested in joining our governance team for a 2 to 3 year term.
